Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects your feelings, the way you think, and the way you act. It is characterized by persistently low mood, loss of interest in activities, and poor concentration. You or anyone in your family or friends are suffering from depression, observing the indications and signs are the first step towards healing. Depression affects more than just one person. According to research, there is 20 percent of people who once in their lifetime faces depression at Some point of time in their existence and 1.5 percent of people face serious depression at any moment. There have been saying that Depression can be properly treated to a certain limit with medicine, psychotherapy, and with a combination of these approaches. With the correct treatment, many people have overcome serious depression and have started to live their ordinary, healthy life. The study says that it’s very necessary to get depression under surveillance so it doesn’t lead to other troubles.

According to the investigation, there are 3 layers and 8 varieties of depression i.e. are MILD, MODERATE, AND MELANCHOLIC (PSYCHOTIC).

Postpartum depression is also aid to be a kind of personality syndrome that is related to childbearing. According to physicians, there has been no one specific circumstance of postpartum depression but there is a study that it is a combination of biological, sentimental, and social factors. After a mother gives birth she goes through many emotions. Emotions of joy, fullness, sad or fear related to her baby. Postpartum depression is normally detected after a momentous week of birth.

Symptoms of postpartum other baby blues.

  • Depressed mood/ mood swings
  • Finding difficulty to bond with the baby
  • Loss of appetite
  • Suspicion of not standing to be a good mother
  • Reduced interest in activities you enjoy doing.
  • Feelings of hurting oneself or the newborn.

  • EXERCISE- Exercise is deemed to be the best treatment to overcome postpartum sadness. Walking in the fresh air will allow you to feel fresh and calm.
  • HEALTHY DIET – The diet you consume pre and post-delivery has a direct effect on your mood. Eat thing that is good for your health as well as your child’s health.
  • SELF-HELP/SELF-TIME – After labor mum mostly manages to lose attention in things they use to admire performing. Find some time to sit with yourself and continue doing activities you love to do be it singing, playing an instrument, or drawing.
  • RESTING – For giving your baby the best care it is most important for the mother to have proper rest first. Develop a habit of resting on days as well because babies generally do disturb at night time.
  • GOOD SLEEP – Good sleep is interdependent on the way you behave in the entire day. If you sleep well then you find yourself more energetic and fresh to enjoy with the baby. Sleep for at least 7-8 hours.
  • AVOID MAJOR LIFE-CHANGING DECISIONS DURING OR AFTER DELIVERY– The mother or the family that welcomes the baby should avoid any discussion or decision that has a direct effect on the mother’s health. It can be related to anything be it a house, Money, or a job.
  • EDUCATE YOURSELF- The mother or mother-to-be should consume good knowledge related to nourishing the baby. She should educate herself in areas that are very important for the baby. Like the food, clothes and the medicine the baby needs, etc.
  • EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS IN THE DELIVERY ROOM- Never be afraid of sharing what you feel before or after the delivery with the doctor. Express your thoughts regarding the excitement, the pain, and the feelings you are stuck with the people present in the delivery room. Communicate clearly with your doctor.
  • COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PARTNER – Share your feelings with your partner. Let him know the thoughts that are disturbing or creating fear in your mind. Talk to him about the baby, the issues you are facing as being a mother. He will understand and will provide you with the best help he can.
  • ASK FOR HELP AFTER DELIVERY- Feel free to ask for any kind of help related to household cleaning, cooking, or taking care of yourself with anyone. Hire a Housemaid that will look after the house when you are busy with the child.
  • DISCOVER SOMEBODY FOR SENTIMENTAL SUPPORT- Sympathetic and cognitive support is very needed after delivery. The mother goes through thousands of thoughts during and after the delivery. Provide her with people she feels comfortable and safe with. Provide her with support of taking care of the baby along with the mother. Take care of her when she takes care of the baby.
  • REGISTER IN REHABILITATION GROUPS TO OVERCOME POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION – Get enrolled in groups that provide training to overcome postpartum fears. During such sessions, you will come across many pediatricians, therapists, who communicate the problems you find difficult to face with the doctors.
  • Self-affirmations- The mother herself is responsible for reacting to the thoughts issues she is facing. With the help of positive affirmations, she can boost her thoughts to that of a positive one. She should meditate at least for 10 minutes so that she can have control over things she gets bothered with.
